CHF Challenge Chicks - Flocking
The girls at CHF are having a little flocking fun this morning. It's on sale this week, so we thought we'd show some ways to use it. ;)
I have had a hankering to make a baby dress from these Crafty Secrets white chipboard die cuts. I love anything that is white or black, rather than the natural chipboard as it is more stamper friendly. The surface is nice and smooth and takes ink very nicely.
The flock on this project is found on the collar. It is a separate piece that comes in the kit.
Now, I know some people can find this stuff very frustrating. I have found success with many adhesives, but for this project, I ran the chipboard piece through my Xyron. I then dumped a thick layer of flock over the exposed adhesive and pressed firmly and continued rubbing gently in a circular motion to ensure full coverage. I was feeling sassy and wanted the color to be really thick and rich, so I ran it through my Xyron and applied a second layer. GOR-GE-OUS! It really does look like velvet.
If you are looking for a very defined edge, it works very well to sand the edges once the adhesive is dry.
I should also mention that I colored the chipboard with a black Copic marker before applying the flocking to ensure it was nice and dark.
The inside is finished off with a sentiment and another flocked heart topped with a Swarovski crystal.
