General Motors - A New Line For CHF
Yes folks, you read it right. Can you believe it? I still have to pinch myself sometimes!
Cornish Heritage Farms is thrilled to announce The General Motors Stamp Collection. There is going to be a wide variety of images in this line, but we just couldn't help but start with some fabulous vintage cars and trucks. (Ok, *I* couldn't resist!) :-)
There are many Trademark names under the GM umbrella including Cadillac, Buick, Chevrolet, GMC, Oldsmobile and Pontiac.
GM has opened an online Heritage Center that allows you to explore their history and reminisce about the cars and trucks of your childhood or even your parent's childhood! Did you know that GM was founded 99 years 298 days 23 hours ago. They have a countdown clock currently ticking toward their 100th year.
Here are the first four images in the collection which will release on Tuesday, July 22nd:
1957 Bel-Air
--------------------------------------------
1957 Family Bel-Air
-------------------------------------------
1957 GMC Truck
------------------------------------------
1956 Chevrolet 3100-T
I am so proud of the detail and shading we were able to achieve with these images. They are gorgeous simply stamped, but have so much potential for detailing and coloring.
As you might imagine, the possibilities with almost 100 years of images to choose from make this Art Director so *very* happy.
Okay, now I am getting nostalgic! Guess what I drove when I was 16?
This my friends in a 1989 T-Roof Pontiac Firebird. I have no idea who's car this is! It's the only one I could find that looked my mine, except mine was red. I had waaaaay to much fun driving that car.
Dawn Lusk has been playing with the images already, here's a taste with her flair for creating scenes!
So tell me, tell me, what do YOU think? What was your family car as a child? Was there a car you always wanted? Tell me, tell me people...what stamps shall we make?

Good for people to know.

Please give me a 1969 Oldsmobile 442 convertible! It os a very sadly ignored muscle car. We are lucky enough to own a nicely restored one! I'll be happy to supply a picture of mine as a model. :-)

My former boss's grandfather was one of the founders of General Motors. He has shared a lot of information about how the company started with me over the years. I am totally forwarding this to him.

I love the old GM cars! My DH drove a '79 Trans Am in HS. We now have a '74 Trans Am and a '68 Chevelle SS. I am so happy that CHF is doing this. Definitely make some '60s and 70s models, too!!!

I personally am a FORD girl but........ my hubby is all about classic cars and owns a 51 Chevy that he has restored - he would love it if I could get his exact car stamp! Then maybe one day you'll get a ford line so I can get images for my dad who restores early 20's and 30's fords!

Forgot to add----You need to do the logos or hood ornaments too. I want an old Buick one. Since that is where dad and hubby worked.

My family has 3 generations of GM employees and this week we are celebrating the 100 anniversary of GM with parades, fireworks etc. I will be buying all and any as I have been searching for several years and could only find Fords for the most part. You will need to contact the local museum in Flint (Sloan http://sloanmuseum.com/ ) abd try to get them in the museum store for one! My family has roots in GM back to the Sit Down Strike and as both hourly and salaried. As soon as you have the link up to buy them, I will post that on my blog and to emails to other GM employees and retirees. This is pretty exciting. I wonder if the Geo line or Aveo will show up? I buy a new one ever two years and love my little bitty cars.

Wonderful news!!! I can hardly wait till these GM car stamps are ready to wing it out of your garage and into mine. My husband LOVES restoring the oldies and has a '55 & '57 Chevy Bel Aire, a '31 & '32 Ford Model T ...is it an A? We go to most of the rod meets, parades and even fly up to the mainland to attend the big events. These stamps will be his birthday present (7/29) as soon as you release them. Great work!

OMG.... what a fabulous coup for your team! Not only am I choppin' at the bit, but my husband can't wait for me to get these stamps!!!!! He's a GM guy, in-and-out. How cool if you expanded the accessories so that we could 'hot rod' them with flames and other wheels and tires! Oh, Oh, Oh... how about an offshoot line to include the 1930's type Willy's cars and Gassers! Or, scene building stamps - like the drive-in and milkshake stand? Whewww Hew... We are big fans of the old style racing cars and regularly attend car shows... Thanks CHF ... can't wait for the stamp release.... Hmmm... is there any consideration for trying to get the license for NFL teams :-> :->

This is awesome! We have a '57 Chevy convertible and our son is restoring a '57 Bel Air Sedan. Classic cars (GM especially) have been a part of my life for the last 35 years!!

Thank You!!! I love cars and it is great to see these stamps. I grew up a GM girl...meaning my dad only drove GM vehicles (still does). We had a number of different ones growing up. However, my husband and his dad are HUGE Oldsmobile lovers. My FIL has a '72 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme & an '86 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. My dh has a '93 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme International Series and he did have a '76 Oldsmobile Cutlass - wrote off when he was hit by a drunk driver. (Thank goodness for the big heavy car.) I would love to see their hood ornaments...how cool would that be?!!

These stamps are great! My family had an Opel Cadet.....at the end of its' time transporting 5 kids, 2 adults and a dog, you could see the road through the floor boards! And then we got a 57 Family BelAir. We all loved that car!!!!!

Now you've just GOT to make some Mustangs. I like them ALL, classic and new, so I don't even care!! ;) Some of the classics would be great stamps for guy cards though. Can't wait to see all the stamps!

I want to see a full size Chevy Caprice wagon. My dad had two of them over my childhood, and I have some GREAT memories of road trips in those cars.

Okay, sorry, but I'm gonna have to type this in caps :-) . . . OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!! FINALLY!!!!!! AWESOME!!!!!!I am so thrilled to finally see a really, really excellent line of car/truck stamps!!!! My little boy, who loves to stamp with me, is also a car freak and will be over the moon when he sees the Bel Air! Now if CHF could just introduce a Ford line with Model T's my joy would be complete! :-)

Forgot to tell you what kind of cars I'd like to see in stamps... I think it would be fun to have some of the cars that kinda make you giggle to think that people actually drove them -- the Gremlin, the Pacer, the Pinto, et al. There's a whole line of these kinds of cars in die cast that I've picked up from time to time for my son -- here's a link: http://www.motormaxtoy.com/category/45

What an interesting line of stamps -- will be fabulous for masculine cards! That '57 Bel Air has lots of retro possibilities, too!

This is so cool! The first car I drove was my dad's 1968 Buick Skylark convertible. I loved that red car!
Posted by: Adair | Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 06:14 AM
I should have added that my own first car was a '68 Pontiac Tempest which I inherited from my dad.

These are really cool! I know that most of the cars my dad had were GM. The one I remember the most was a '52 cadillac. Of course it wasn't 'new' when we had it. I started my drivers ed when we had this car, but then my dad sold it and got a Nash Rambler and I had to learn to drive a stick shift. At the time I wasn't happy, but now, that's actually my preference.
